a day of firsts

Hello baby girl!
You had one busy 9th day on this planet. We started with a leisurely morning playing in bed with daddy and me (mostly daddy :) ) and then we headed to your 2-week doctor appointment where nurse Lucy poked and prodded you with needles to draw blood for various testing. We felt so bad watching the process and seeing the sad look on your sweet little face. Dr Lindsay said you were doing fantastic and she thought you were gaining weight and developing quite well. It was over in no time, we went home, changed your poopy diaper and headed out for our first outing.

Daddy and I took you to norstrom to buy a new sleeper for you- since you are a petite baby, the clothing we bought was a bit too big- we got you a nice one that we'll wash up and put you in tomorrow. We bought mommy a few new nursing bras and you slept in your stroller while we finished off the afternoon shopping at a few other store. You seem to enjoy the stroller and the cool fall air.

When we got home you spent some time with grandma Anderson and then daddy gave you your first bath at home- he did a great job but you hated it! I got part of it on video and hope to share with you when you get older. As for the final first- you umbilical cord separated from your belly button! Glad it did because it was hanging by a thread and made me nervous to maneuver  around.

All in all we had a great day together as a family- the first of many I'm sure.

Weight today: 7 lbs, 6.9 oz (yeah! above your birthweight baby girl!!)
